Americas Cup Style Yacht Match Racing
12 Day “Sail of a Lifetime” – New Zealand
To those of us who enjoy either watching and/or sailing the big boats, there’s very little that can compare with the shear magnificence, and nail biting cut and thrust, of yachting’s blue ribbon event, the Americas Cup (most recently held in Valencia, Spain in 2010).
Well, now you don’t simply have to watch and wonder just what it’s like. We can give you that experience!
Whether it’s just a couple of friends who simply want to go “head to head”, a company team build exercise or incentive event, or a group of sailing club friends, we can arrange it. It’s our pleasure to be able to match race two of the titans of this great event, with two actual Americas Cup competition yachts.
This will be hands-on, head to head, Americas Cup style match racing over a marked out Americas Cup course length, off the coast of New Zealand. You’ll have chase boats and top competition sailors to assist you. You will compete in a full, two boat, five race series, operating under Americas Cup style rules.
Commemorative sailing weather gear and T-Shirts will be presented to both crews before the five race series, and to complete this fantastic experience, after the racing, dinner will be provided at the yacht squadron, where trophies will be presented to the client teams.
Included with this “once in a lifetime” experience, we have also added match racing with the bigger , more manoeuvrable , hands on, 40ft MRX Maxi-Yachts. Again, you will be assisted by fully experienced top sailors throughout your racing.
To complete this “sail of a lifetime” experience, we can now offer you yet another crowning glory from sailings glamorous racing world. A multi-day sail on one of the world’s most famous racing boats, again, in the company of top sailors throughout your trip. “Lion New Zealand” was built by the late Sir Peter Blake to withstand the rigours of the Southern Ocean bordering Antarctica. She was his entry in the 1985/86 Whitbread Round the World Race, and won the prestigious Sydney to Hobart Race in 1984. As testament to her racing pedigree, she competed again in the 2009 Sydney to Hobart race.
